The Field Service Technicians play a critical role in this mission by assembling, installing, troubleshooting, and commissioning automation systems on-site at client facilities across the U.S. and Canada. They ensure each system operates at the highest standard of performance, safety, and reliability—directly supporting client success and CapStone’s reputation for technical excellence.
Position Summary
The Field Service Technician (FST) assembles, installs, tests, and commissions mechanical and electrical automation systems, including vision, camera, and scanning equipment. This hands-on position requires strong mechanical aptitude, problem-solving ability, and flexibility to travel up to 80% of the time. FSTs collaborate closely with project managers, engineers, and client operations staff to deliver fully functional, high-quality automation systems while maintaining professionalism and safety standards in the field.

Installation & Commissioning
- Assemble, wire, and install mechanical, electrical, and vision systems at CapStone and client sites.
- Perform testing, calibration, and commissioning of automation systems.
- Support on-site system startup, debugging, and verification per project design specifications.
- Complete project reports summarizing activities, progress, and remaining tasks.
- Create or update end-of-day reports, training materials, and project records.
- Train client personnel on system operation and maintenance with clear instructions.
- Provide remote and on-site support to diagnose and resolve system issues.
- Collaborate with peers, project managers, and engineers to communicate findings and recommend improvements.
- Participate in ongoing training programs, including C1 and C2 certifications.
- Follow all CapStone and client safety procedures and standards. OSHA 10 required.
- Accurately record time, expenses, and project updates within company systems.
- Submit post-project summaries and lessons learned for continuous improvement.

- Minimum 2 years of hands-on experience in electrical or mechanical assembly, maintenance, or field service.
- Excellent time management, organization, and communication skills.
- Willingness and ability to travel up to 80% of the time, including some nights or weekends.
- Strong computer skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Office and basic network operations.
- Ability to read and interpret technical documentation, including wiring diagrams and schematics.
- Ability to lift up to 40 pounds and work safely in production or industrial environments.
- Background in automated systems, especially those involving mechanical or electrical integration.
- Familiarity with vision or camera-based systems (such as Cognex or DataMan) is a plus.
